General
What Nudge is and how it works at a high level.
Nudge is a task-sharing app for households and teams. It helps you assign recurring work fairly, track contributions, and reduce friction in shared spaces.
Nudge is built for shared spaces: households, shared apartments, cafés, offices, co-living spaces, and volunteer teams — anywhere fairness matters.
No. Households are the common case, but Nudge also supports teams and small organisations. Plans and features are designed to work across different space types.
Getting started
Create a space, invite people, and add tasks.
Open the app, choose a space type (e.g. Household, Café), name it, and you’re ready. You can then invite members and add your first tasks.
Use the invite flow inside your space settings. Members can join quickly using an invite link or code, depending on your setup.
Create one-time tasks or recurring tasks. Add a title, schedule, effort level, and an initial assignee. Recurring tasks can then rotate to keep things fair.
Yes — Nudge ships as a Progressive Web App (PWA), so you can install it on iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Windows without the App Store. See the full step-by-step guide: /guides/install-nudge-pwa
Features
Auto-rotation, fairness, templates, analytics, exports, and more.
For recurring tasks, Nudge automatically cycles the assignee across members so the same person isn't always stuck with the same chore. You pick who starts; subsequent occurrences round-robin through the rest of the space (or the group, if the task is group-scoped). The first occurrence stays on your pick — rotation kicks in from occurrence #2 onwards.
Weighted rotation lets you tilt the share of recurring tasks based on each member's availability — useful when one person is part-time, on parental leave, or carrying a heavier load elsewhere. Each member gets an integer weight (default 1); a member with weight 2 takes roughly twice as many turns as a member with weight 1. You can also switch to manual mode if you'd rather assign every occurrence yourself. Configure under Settings → Space → Rotation.
The Fairness Score is a 0–100 indicator of how evenly work is distributed. It’s designed to be a shared, visible signal — useful for conversations, not blame.
Not all tasks are equal. Effort points let you weigh tasks so “clean the bathroom” counts more than “water one plant”. Fairness becomes more accurate when effort is considered.
Yes. Templates help you set up faster with common tasks for your space type. Higher tiers include more templates.
Nudge sends push notifications for five things.
- Task assigned — when a task is rotated to you, swapped to you, or you're invited to a group task
- Task reminder — your daily digest of what's due, sent at the time you pick in Settings → Notifications
- Task comment — when a teammate comments on a task you're on
- Comment reaction — when someone reacts to your comment
- Event mark-as-seen — when a Harmony+ event you should acknowledge lands
Email is reserved for account-level stuff: invites, welcome, password reset, trial ending, payment failed, and account/space deletion. Both push and email can be tuned per category — see Settings → Notifications.
Quiet hours (Harmony plan and above) silence all non-urgent push notifications during a window you choose — typically overnight. The notification still arrives in the app, but the device won't ping or vibrate during the window. Urgent stuff (e.g. payment failures) is exempt. Configure under Settings → Notifications → Quiet hours.
Off-duty hours (Harmony plan and above) tell the rotation engine when not to assign you tasks. Different from quiet hours — quiet hours mute alerts, off-duty hours prevent assignments. Useful if you work nights and don't want morning tasks, or if Sundays are sacred. Configure under Settings → Notifications → Off-duty hours.
Email is reserved for account-level events: signup confirmation, password reset, trial ending, payment failures, invites you've sent, and account/space deletion reminders. Day-to-day task activity (assignments, reminders, comments) is push-only — we don't want to fill your inbox. Transactional emails can't be unsubscribed without losing access to security alerts, but marketing emails (if any) always have an opt-out.
Analytics shows contribution breakdowns, completion trends, discrepancies, and fairness over time. Availability and retention depend on your plan.
On the mobile app, yes — you can add tasks, mark progress, and the app syncs the moment you’re back online. The web app is online-only: it installs as a PWA so the shell paints instantly on repeat visits, but every action needs the network.
Yes. Export options may include CSV and PDF reports depending on your plan and platform. Exports are useful for transparency, reporting, and record-keeping.
On the web app, tap the + button → Talk to Nudge AI. Speak naturally — live captions follow along. Tap Pause if you need a breath, Start over to clear and try again, then Generate tasks when ready. Nudge suggests task cards you can add one-by-one or all at once. Browse example phrases in our Talk to Nudge AI guide (/guides/talk-to-nudge-ai).

Troubleshooting
Common issues and quick fixes.
Check your internet connection, ensure you’re logged in, and try reopening the app. If it persists, contact support with your device model and approximate time of the issue.
Check OS notification permissions, in-app notification settings, and quiet hours. On Android, ensure battery optimisation isn’t restricting the app.
Confirm the invite link/code is correct and not expired. If you’re already a member, try switching active space. Otherwise ask the admin to resend an invite.
Voice dictation needs your browser to use the microphone.
- Click the lock or site-settings icon in the address bar
- Set Microphone to Allow for nudgeworks.app / web.nudgeworks.app
- Reload the page and tap Dictate again
- On macOS, also check System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and enable your browser
